When using Windows VPS and connecting to a remote desktop, sometimes users may experience a problem where you can see a black screen in front of you. This is accompanied by a hanging session on your server and there is no way to close the RDP connection.

So in this article we will try to give advice that should help correct this error and enable you to use the server comfortably and for its intended purpose.
Method #1
Log out the user through the task manager. As an administrator, you will be able to go to the task manager: open it with a right click and select Task Manager.

Then select "Users" and find the user you need. After that, all you have to do is click the “Exit” button. The user who had a black screen will connect again via RDP. The problem should be fixed.
Method #2
Availability of updates in the Update and Security interface. Here you can check if a new version is available. If yes, download and install it (remember to back up your data first). A black screen may indicate that there are updates available in your Windows. After downloading the updates and restarting RDP the problem should be resolved.

Method #3
Update with explorer.exe running. One of the functions of explorer.exe is to manage the desktop. This system process in Windows OS is responsible for displaying the Windows desktop, including wallpaper, icons and widgets. It also provides the ability to manage and customize your desktop, including changing the background image and screen resolution.
To find it loaded on your system, go to Task Manager, then Deails. You will see it in the list and click on End task.

Method #4
Disabling the persistent bitmap caching option. After creating images and other resources, the computer generates cache files, which are then stored locally on the client side of the remote desktop. This process is known as persistent bitmap caching. Enabling this feature has some impact on your computer's performance and, in rare cases, may cause problems such as a black screen appearing on a remote desktop running Windows operating system.
